ANTHROPOLOGY is the study of humankind, past and present, that draws and builds upon knowledge from social and biological sciences, as well as the humanities and natural sciences.
See? I'm not just being nosy, I'm an anthropologist! Oh, don't worry ... I'm not publishing results of my findings. I'm simply eager to learn how other ordinary people live as compared to me. My questions are mainly for females ...
How much sleep do you get each day and what is your sleep schedule?
Do you sleep with the TV on? Music? White noise?

How often do you shave your legs?
Do you brush your teeth and floss every day? Once? Twice? More?
Showers? Every day? Every other day? Less? More?
Housekeeping. Do you do your own or do you have help?
How often do you wash your car?
Do you balance your checking account every month?
Have you tried "alternative" medicine? Accupuncture, naturopathic, meditation, hypnosis, etc?
Do you park close to your destination or at the far end of the parking lot so you get in some walking?
Sleep nude or in some kind of clothing?
Have you used microwave meals rather than cooking? How often?
Do you do your own taxes or get help?
Do you do your own taxes or get help?
If you have pets, do you talk to them? Let them sit on your lap? Sleep with them? Teach them tricks?
How often do you exercise enough to make you sweat?
Do you include a fruit or vegetable with every meal and snack?
Do you light candles for no reason, just your own enjoyment?
When you have a meal, do you watch TV while you eat or sit at a proper table?
Do you wear make up every day or just for special?
Vitamins and supplements? Yes or no? Daily?
I'm sure I could come up with 100 questions I'd love to compare answers with. Anthropologist or nosy old lady?
You decide.
Since I reclaimed my husband's chair in the living room, I no longer watch much TV in the bedroom which has greatly improved my sleeping pattern. I go in the bedroom at midnight and fall asleep by 12:30, get up around 8:00 without an alarm.
ReplyDeleteAre you going to give us your answers?
What a lot of questions! Here's some answers: Brush 2 or 3 times a day, hate flossing. Don't have to shave my legs anymore---no hair! Wash my car when it needs it in the summer, not often in the winter. Don't do my own taxes, balance my 2 checking accounts twice a month. Don't wear make up, take some supplements as per doctor's approval, Don't use candles since they are the leading cause of house fires. Have fruit and veggies daily, eat at the table while watching TV. Wear sweats a lot in the winter. I talk to my dog but he doesn't like to sleep in the bed and I've taught him many tricks.
Not sure we want this on the internet!!! Brush once a day. Rarely floss. Shave every other day (when I shower) Get the car washed 2-3 times a month (anal husband). Use TurboTax but do it myself Never balance accounts, just check them online every week. Always wear mascara, usually face powder, blush, eyeliner, tinted chapstick. Light candles on occasion but LOTS of automatic candles. Eat breakfast and lunch at the kitchen island bar ... dinner on a tray on my lap in front of the TV. I have summer "sweats" that I wear most of the year (lightweight 100% cotton from Fresh Produce .. totally baggy).
DeleteI watch Netflix on the iPad starting about 11:00 and go to sleep about 1am ... up usually 7:30-ish. And an hour nap most days. Want to give up the Netflix and sleep earlier ... so longer! Cotton night shirt.
I don't exercise ... trying to walk every day (it's 84 here today). I don't always have a fruit/veggie and am working on that. I take a multivitamin and that's it (so far).
Now I park and walk ... except if it's rainy Oregon!
Interesting comparison. I hope others weigh in. I'll have to look up 'Fresh Produce' I've never seen summer sweats and I'd love them, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteYou both sound so neat! Now that few eyes will read this old column, I'll answer, too.
ReplyDeleteNine hours sleep to ocean waves in a box, colorful lighting inside and out with twinkling lights and rope lights. Not much hair to shave, rarely floss, brush twice/day. Vit D, iron, eyeliner, blush, hair color, pj's every day. Pay to wash car, do taxes, eat take-away, get teeth cleaned 4x year, won't pay to clean house, mow lawn or shovel snow. Keep a monthly eye on spending. Weekly acupuncture, massage, daily swim/ bike/run/ or weight lifting, so daily shower. Park close, keep kitty close. TV on two hours tops, to eat with and relax to. Laptop two hours. Play piano, eat fruit and veggies, make love irregularly. In sixth decade, barely.
Oh yeh, hair color! Every six weeks! I tried being frugal but when the grey finally grew all the way out ... and I saw a photo of myself ... straight to the hair dresser! I looked 93!
DeleteYou are SOOO active! I need that to rub off on me ...
