SPRING HAS SPRUNG

Oregon doesn't have very distinct seasons, yet I enjoy having a little change every few months.  Currently our days are close to 70 (or a little bit over) already.  I think we may have a HOT summer (thank goodness for a pool and air conditioning) coming our way.  Maui was "just right" warm for a few months (winter) then HOT.  I do like the Oregon choices better!

Easter egg hunt strategizing ...

Just outside our front door

Thank goodness the army still enjoys a stuffed animal now and again ....
Yes ... two boys, two blankets, two stuffed animals and an iPad

Rice Krispie treats made with Peeps!

Kate's oldest son ... Bosko

  1. Love Bosko's condo. I'll bet he needs it to get away from those active boys from time to time.

Does all the cameo and playing Army make anyone in the family nervous? I don't know a lot of little boys but two I know who closest in age to your grandsons do love their cameo clothing but they don't play war. Yet. When my brother was young he had WWII soldiers and, of course, he turned out just fine. "War" was on the nightly news back then and he fought a clear cut enemy. Heck, even I played with toy guns when I was young but times are so different now or am I wrong about that? Who do they fight, when you listen to their play chatter? At what age do boys start grow other interests? I remember boys not even getting in trouble for bringing shotguns to school for show-and-tell! Try doing that today!

    1. They don’t play war but look for zombies and enderman and other dangerous new age villains. Mostly they like packing up and setting up a “camp”.

B got a BB gun for Christmas last year. Teacher allowed kids to bring their favorite gift for show and tell. B brought the front of the box .... and parents got an earful.

Usually the boys want to be army medics but sometimes a chef or a stuffed animal designer. Stay tuned!

    2. Very cool villains to fight. I'm impressed. I'm glad they are keeping your condo free of zombies and enderman. (I had to look up 'enderman' to know what they are. LOL)

Wow, I can't believe the school got hot over bringing in a box lid!

    3. Can you believe it? A picture of a BB gun, not an AK-15. And he was always putting blood on the defeated enemy. No longer allowed to use blood. So he disguises it ... using blue streaming down the face ... tells teacher it is tears .... ah ha ha

    1. I replied hours ago ... lost in space???

Bosko is all about attention. He’s 13 now and enjoys being rubbed/patted to sleep. On YOUR bed!!! A real lovey.

  3. I had two six shooters (cap pistol), in beautiful holsters. Sometimes I was shooting Indians, sometimes I was the Indian with the Tomahawk. I don't like guns now and love Indians. I used to climb trees, hang from a branch and do my Tarzan yell--didn't make me Tarzan. I also had trucks and tractors and constructed roads in the sand piles--didn't make me a construction worker.
I think it's great that kids use their imaginations to play all sorts of games. My sister wouldn't allow her two boys to have cap pistols. One day she looked outside and they had shortened sticks that they were, "bang, bang, you're dead", playing. Gave me a good laugh.

    1. These guys use bananas or bite their toast into shapes of guns. Or make them out of Legos. It’s how kids play! The condo complex loves how they dress the part, sniper crawl through the grass then have their k-rations. They build stick huts, set out pop up tent, use pine cones for grenades.

But I hope they remain KIND and not become professional shooters!!!!

  4. We missed the Easter egg hunt this year. The kids didn't come down. Bosko looks pretty comfy there. :) My grandson would love a BB gun. On their last visit, he asked H when he could have a pocket knife. H said, "When your mama says it's okay." He groaned, "She'll never do that , Grandpa."

    1. The egg hunts were SO fun! I think Kate loves them more than the kids!

Jesse is very very good at getting Kate to agree to BB guns, real knives and I bought little guy his OWN chef's knife. He now cuts up most of the fruits and vegetables now. They are quite serious about respecting that these REAL items are NOT toys.
