SOME OF THIS, SOME OF THAT

Our neighbors gave us paper white bulbs for Christmas.  I had no idea how fabulous they smell!  Kidults are keeping the orchid going and finally the Christmas cactus is blooming!

Speaking of plants .... remember the Yard Squad being here last Friday?  We've had no communication from them since.  It was my understanding they were going to put in writing what they were bitching about.  Fortunately, we had lots of sunny weather since then and the Kidults have made a LOT of progress.  Stay tuned.

I have never watched an inauguration in my 69 years but I'm so glad I did this year.  And the first press conference.  President Biden has done so much good in this first few hours than 45 ever did.  I am hopeful!

But Covid predictions on NPR were not good.  It seems it will be getting worse before it gets better.  100 days of masks is a good motto.  No vaccine around here ... I can't even get on a waiting list.

I bought myself a baby yoda.  About 8" tall.  The boys have gone wild for him!  I love how they make him talk, yoda style!

  1. The inauguration was uplifting and I'm so glad it went off without any violence. The virtual celebration at night was pretty cool, too.

I'm so glad I don't have an HOA but I am holding my breath on what deck and patio rules they'll have where I'm moving to. The only one I know for sure is that we wouldn't be allowed to have grills and I'm good with that.

  2. It's so subjective. I think rocks and driftwood are more a part of nature than plastic pink flamingos!

  3. Aw, Baby Yoda. I have been tempted to buy one when I've seen him in the stores because he's so darn cute. I've watched all the episodes on Disney Plus. So far I've resisted buying a Baby Yoda as I am trying to stay in a declutter phase. ha!

    1. I resisted as long as I could ... he hasn't slept with me ONCE ... they trade me one of theirs!

  4. I Love your term Kidults! Paperwhites do smell sublime. I don't usually watch inaugurations either but this hasn't been your usual transition and I was so Emotional about having a REAL Administration in the WH again that I was Moved to Tears. We can't get Appointments here either for the Vaccine, it's impossible and for now only The Man qualifies, I'm in yet another Tier and the Grandchild we're Raising is in yet another Tier, so it's all rather inept and ridiculous that for a Family of 3 we'd have to try to set up 6 Impossible Appointments to get a simple Vaccine administered! So for now, nobody is Vaccinated and we have 25% spread rate in Arizona, which is probably still the highest in the Nation... splendid. At least our District is still Pandemic Home Schooling since even then Teachers are catching The COVID. Of coarse I suck at Pandemic Home Schooling of a High School Special Needs Freshman, but she's doing as best she can under the impossible circumstances and I'm Proud of how Maturely she's handling mitigation so her Grandparents Raising her don't drop Dead before she's Raised... she's very protective of us that way.

    1. Oh! You are raising a grand? Good on you! I can help but not sure I could 100% raise one (actually two), but I would if I had to. You will get stars in your crown. Khan Academy is an online program ABSOLUTELY free. So if she would like to see another angle on any subjects, lead her there. Most public school are not very good doing things online. We use Acellus Academy ($2,400 but lots of scholarships) and they've been teaching online for 15+ years. Programs are geared towards kids ... young one gets to play a video game when he masters a concept in math.

Watch Sal Khan on Ted Talks to get intrigued!

  5. Most HOA’s I’ve read about like yours would drive me crazy. Yours really sounds nutso. I’ve always been a bit of a news hound and interested in government and politics so enjoyed viewing party conventions years ago. Listening to inauguration and other official’s spiels first hand has seemed more reliable than the sound bite summaries in so many media reports, not to mention those who twist and warp in their interpretation. This years’s affair was refreshing after what we’ve been subjected to in recent years.

That Yoda is cute. Enjoy your accounts of life with your Kidults! Take good care of yourself and stay safe.

    1. I would NEVER buy in an HOA again. The Board is just neighbors and everything is subjective. I'll be starting a mail campaign show photos of VIOLATIONS!

  6. Here's to paper whites. That kind of brightness is nice this time of year.
We watched the inauguration, too. It felt like taking a shower. Whew!
We are on the list for vaccination, but we've heard nothing from them. Fingers crossed.
