EARTH DAY 2020

I think Mother Earth loves having us in lock down.

People in northern India are reacting with awe at being able to see the Himalayan mountain range.  Brazil has hundreds of hawksbill sea turtles laying eggs on their deserted beaches.  Air pollution is decreasing every where, every day.  Fish can now be seen in the canals in Venice.

Carbon monoxide emissions are down 50%

Beijing air is no longer green (yes, I was there and it was GREEN)

Now .... if we can just figure out how to live without creating so much damage to Mother Earth after the quarantine.

  1. I saw that stuff on the news and if anything good comes from the pandemic it might make people realize how much we can all make a difference when it comes to environmental issues. Switching away from our dependency from the oil industry sure would help make the planet better!!!!!

    1. Industry, smoking, driving. Maybe we can cut back on everything?

  2. The comparison of the polluted skies to the clear skies was eye opening. I hope we do learn from this--maybe get more bicycles or work from home permanently.

  3. Here in Phoenix javelinas are coming into parts of the city they didn't before because of people not out on the street. They aren't too much of a threat but it will be interesting to see what happens when things open up again. I would imagine lots of people may end up continuing to work at home or we might do what we always do. Say we will change and then go back to our old ways within months. Time will tell.
