A VERY EMBARRASSING JOURNEY

The five of us are settling in pretty well.  Braeden is on Christmas break so it's not quite the normal routine.  Plus all four of them are sick with Mr. B having a cough since I arrived.  Finally made an appt so they would take him to the doctor.  Walking pneumonia.  I'm hopeful better little boy moods will return when they are all healthy again.

A challenge for me is sharing a bathroom.  Mostly with the two little boys but since it is the first bathroom from the front door, it is often shared by all.

First thing in the morning if someone beats me in, I'm doomed.  While it seems like 8 gallons come gushing out, I'm sure it's a few teaspoons of overnight tinkle.  I decided to wear Depends at night now to provide a margin of safety.  It is so embarrassing.  After just two weeks!  Last night I ordered some fancy pants by Icon so I don't look like an old, leaky grandma.

I sure hope they fit and I especially hope they WORK!  Supposed to hold six teaspoons.  Best of all, they have a great website with down to earth information about all kinds of things that happen "down there."  (Icon is all about celebrating our strength as women, while chuckling at the ways our beautiful, imperfect, sexy, hilarious, resilient, leaky bodies can go rogue.)  As well as sister companies.  Check out Thinx (period proof panties) and Tushy ... add on bidet features.

Despite this being a very embarrassing issue ... they say 1 in 3 women have leakage issues.  So I am not alone ....

  1. A totally common problem with women of all ages. Sometimes when we have company it means 3 females using the same bathroom and Bob all by himself. I decided to switch and use Bob's bath when that happens. I don't like it. Males and females should not share a bathroom. Old men dribble and leak and little boys are in a hurry that results in poor aim. And then there's the issue of males not putting the seat down when they finish. Also much harder to keep bathroom clean if there's male traffic.

    1. Luckily Momma has taught the boys to put the seat down. But the aim of the 2.5 year old is easily distracted! First world problem!

  2. Have you tried the Poise or Always pads for bladder control? I don't really have an issue. But I use the pads when I go on bus trips where I worry about not be able to find a bathroom as quick as I want. I have tested them by filling them full of water and they hold a LOT. I've never had kids which is why I'm not in the "club" of one in every three.

Any chance you can add a half bath to that condo? It doesn't take much space. Stacking the washer and dryer in a laundry room is one way to get the room. Little used closet.

    1. I did try pads at first ... but not a tight enough closure around my legs. Depends work GREAT and do hold a lot ... so if the Icons are not WAY better, I'll keep doing that.

I need to start doing more exercising than Kegels!

  3. You're among friends here. We can talk about anything and do! Someone, somewhere has felt it.

I expect I'll be recollecting this post when this happens to me eventually. Hope this new intimate garment works!

    1. Icons look attractive online, but stay tuned. So far it's just the first thing in the morning issue ... hopefully that's it!!! Growing old is NOT for sissies.

  4. Funny this post should greet my eyes on this particular morning. As I woke up at 4:00 am with a huge need to get to my bathroom--a mere 10 steps away and noticed at about the 6 step mark, something warm was running down my leg! EGADS!!!!!!!!!! I wear Always panty liners every day of my life-=-just in case. Me thinks it might be time for some Bedtime Pull-Ups?

    2. Sorry! Bedtime pull ups work very well ... get the size that fits, not a bit larger. Voice of experience!!!

What are some other embarrassing things about this aging process???? Let's talk.

  5. No, you are not alone. I use Always panty liners sometimes... if I'm going on a day trip or somewhere that takes me away from a toilet for awhile. That inevitable sneeze can get me in trouble. This is such a common issue for women. Things just don't always work like we would like.

  6. Have you tried Kegel exercise?
I had mild incontinence 15 years ago...with Kegel I can cough without leaking.

    1. Obviously, I haven't been working those Kegels like I should. Believe it or not, many years ago at my annual female exam, things appeared to be "slipping". Mr gyno sent me to physical therapy ... for my vagina! Laughingly call it Pussy PT. But again, I haven't been doing those exercises either.

      This is all my doing!

    1. Thanks. With all the pads and pull ups and now specially designed panties, I must have a few cohorts!
