GRANDMA TIME

It is amazing how infrequently I blog since I've moved in with the family.  And I am missing it.

Now that we have worked out our morning and evening routines, I need to plan some ME time.  I'm home by 9:15 after dropping Mr. 6 off at school (and grabbing a coffee as a reward on the way home).  I skim the NYT and WSJ online editions, email, Facebook and a few of my favorite blogs.  Then to play Words with Friends, Word Streak and Letterpress (I keep forgetting this one).

It is time to focus on me.  I'm rejoining Weight Watchers because weighing in is the only thing that keeps me accountable.  This will need to be a lifelong crusade ... with no finish line.  I got my blood work results yesterday and there are 3-4 that need my attention.  Losing weight and moving around more will help them all.  My friend (who is a life coach and a blogger AND reversed her diabetes) is going to assist me via email and phone calls.  I want to be another of her success stories.  The pressure is ON!

I have a first goal of lowering my bad numbers by mid-May when I do my Medicare Wellness check.  Wish me luck!

  1. H's blood sugar was high. My numbers were within acceptable limits, but at the upper margins. We both improved our numbers with weight loss. I know you will, too. There's nothing like getting some not-so-perfect numbers for incentive. Having a cheerleader and helper will help you, too.

I was very happy to see this post in my "reader." I hope for more! No pressure or anything.

    1. I've always been just below the edge. This time I went over. But it wasn't a fasting blood test so I don't know if that would make a difference. The liver enzymes were just over "acceptable" but I think all the Aleve and Advil I've been taking may have affected that ... as I have ALWAYS enjoyed two glasses of red wine per night. BUT, no alcohol until the check up.

  3. Weight Watchers has a good program and I hope the 'coach' will help you lower your numbers. May is a long way off in terms of the changes you can make. Blood tests only take in a three month window for most things, I'm told.

I look forward to following your progress. Do blog more often!! By the way your blogger friend who is also I life coach, what's her blog's name? I'm always looking for new blogs to follow.

    1. I did get my statistics into a spreadsheet for comparison. (Thanks Judy for giving me that idea). Gosh, if it only takes three months to lower these numbers ... why do people even have Type 2 diabetes???? Totally fixable with diet and exercise!
