SOCIAL MEDIA PESSIMISTS and OPTIMISTS

We probably all have Facebook family/friends/acquaintances who definitely fall into one of those two categories.  I know I do and I just have to "unfollow" the downers and woe is me types, then try to remember to check their page once in a while and make a kind comment.

Several of these people claim they have physical/mental reasons to be so depressed and anti-everything.  As an optimist myself, I think dwelling on the negatives just makes one feel worse.  Honestly ... one  person posts ten times a day and each and every one of the posts is another way to view the worst.  Probably don't like puppies or kittens either.  While pessimism is not classified as a mental disease, I can see where it might lead to one.

I also have some deeply vocal religious folks as well as atheists ... maybe I should introduce them?  One poster has probably shared every verse of the Bible by now ....

Oh I suppose some people don't care for the Pollyanna's of the universe either.  Interestingly, there are so many more synonyms for pessimist than for optimist.  Hmmmm.

And then there are those who are constantly talking about needing money and some have even set up GoFundMe for in vitro and for wanting/needing an apartment as they are living in weekly hotels.  Help me pay for my honeymoon, get my tattoo removed. You name it.

I just need to remember life has both!  Especially on social media.

VACATION 2021

I love sleeping. Always have.  I also try to take a daily 30-45 minute mind-cleansing meditation nap.

The old bed was getting grooves in it and I want to be able to sit up easier while in it.  It is so hard to choose a new bed.  How can you determine its comfort with just a 5-10 minute test?  As I spend so much time in my luxury cabin, I decided to get an adjustable bed so I can sit up and use my laptop or lay flat with my feet elevated.  Or zero gravity sitting!

It also has massage features .... two types of massage and three strengths.  Luckily it also has a timer for 10, 20 or 30 minutes.

It arrived Monday!  I have 120 days to decide if this is THE one or exchange for another.  It's softer than my 11 year old Queen size but I like it so far!

The King sized bed in Maui.

Truly my happy place ... and I stayed with Queen because

The boys are just sure I need company at night!

They are enjoying the new luxury for reading

Or for video games.

Needless to say, I have to hide the remote!

Unfortunately, this is in lieu of a vacation this year!

NEW THINGS IN MY LIFE

I'm just late to the game, I guess.  But, if no one tells me, how would I know?

I hate taking giant horse sized pills.  Unfortunately, I take 3 every night for Type2 Diabetes, one huge multivitamin and a second large Vitamin b-complex.  My sister went to a specialist in NYC to learn more about osteoporosis.  She also hates horse pills and calcium is one of those.  And sometimes several a day.  He informed her about liquid calcium!  Oh my gosh!  Delicious and delightfully flavored.  Available at Whole Foods as well as Amazon (it was less expensive in NYC!). (He specifically recommended this brand).

A couple of weeks ago, the roof of my mouth was sore, for no reason I could think of.  I was going to the dentist for a cleaning anyway, so I asked if it looked irritated to them.  I'd been using Tooth and Gum rinse as well as warm salt water.

I've been using this tonic for several years and I love how clean my mouth feels after!

The dentist asked if I'd ever tried PurO3.  My confused face assured him I had never even heard of it!  It's ozonated coconut oil that you just rub around the sore area.  When I got home and looked it up, apparently swishing with plain coconut oil is terrific for dental care.  It is an antibiotic and antifungal natural substance.  Anyway, after a few days of applying PurO3, mystery mouth was healed.  I tried the coconut "pulling" (20 minutes of swishing coconut oil) but it was a disgusting experience ... the oil doubled in volume and it wasn't flavored so tasted pretty bad.

Please look up the ozone process.  Very interesting and great health benefits (especially for drinking water) but a bit more chemistry than necessary for this little blog.

What is new to you and do you recommend it?

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Death and taxes.

Last year I had to hire a CPA (recommended by my financial advisor).  The guy died at his desk working on my return so when I got the outrageous invoice, I didn't feel like complaining.  To them.  But I did vent to others.

For 2020, two friends both recommended a local small firm they had both been using for over five years.  The price was certainly reasonable and although he didn't suggest that I claim my family as dependents, he agreed that I could claim Kate and her boys, but not Jesse since they don't have that piece of paper.

The economic stimulus checks were part of the issue, so Jesse did have to file a return to get his missing $600 payment.  Nothing on it but that.

Last week in the mail, the Dept of Treasury sent all three of us a notice ... saying there was a miscalculation on our returns.  My refund would be higher!  They would get nothing.  Two days later I got two checks ... one for the higher refund (plus interest) and one for $2,800 for economic impact payment.

When I contacted him via email (with copies attached) he said he would get back to me by the end of the day.  But Jesse should go online to a new web site just for pandemic payments.  (No offer to refund the tax preparation fee that was worthless).

Stay tuned as I may have to vent again.  I'm afraid to deposit both checks since I don't know if I really get to keep it.  But I think I will and worry about it later.

What would you do?
