Yes, I fell for one. Computer taken over. Spent all day Saturday closing credit cards, investment account and passwords.
I'm frazzled.
A WLLO friend asked me to purchase and send $100 Sephora gift certificate to her niece. She is very computer illiterate so I totally helped her out. NEVER AGAIN. I never click on links even from my sister until I check with her.
No more helping anyone via email.
I feel so violated.
Gosh, I'm so sorry this happened to you! Hope you cleared all your cookies and any spyware left behind, might be worth a trip to a professional to have it done.
ReplyDeleteAnd I just had cleared cookies and history. The vandal erased all my anti virus software ... I had to load it back on.
DeleteOh my, I am so sorry you were burned. It is hard today when our families send us links. I try to not click on any but sometimes do. I will take your horror as a warning.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! What a nightmare! How exactly did it work? Fake web site for Sephora? I would be frazzled too. It happens to the best of us so don't beat yourself up too much about it and like you said, lesson learned!

How awful! It's frustrating and exhausting to clean up everything after you get snagged. Sorry this happened to you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a headache! Terrible payback for trying to do something nice for someone!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I am not able to reply to responses! Still working on things ... although I think this one is Blog Spot related
ReplyDeleteDear Awkward Widow and Friends, and to think, these crooks don't lose one second of sleep - buncha low-down reprobates. Anyway, Awkward, i love your picture of the widow in one of those poofey 19th century dresses.
