GET UP. GET DRESSED. GET OUT.

2020 is going to be better.

Being a better person.  A better introvert.  A better Grandma. A better friend.  A better volunteer.  A better neighbor.  Better taking care of my health.

I have become very lazy, fat and happy during the past two years.  As always, my weight is too much for my 5' 7" frame and try as I might, I cannot grow any taller.  When I first moved back to Portland, I would get up at 7:30 to take Mr. B to school.  Then 8:00 am after he started taking the bus.  Now it is 9:00 am or even 10:00 on the weekends.

Because I do most of my life on the computer, I don't get dressed til noon (or after) because who knows I'm still in my pajamas and robe.  Step One will be get up at 8:00 am and get dressed. Sounds like a baby step but I think it will get me started to accomplishing more than just reading on the computer (although I have also been listening to books because of the poor eyesight).

I know only 8% of people actually keep their resolutions more than a month or two, so I'm keeping it simple.  Get up.  Get dressed.  Get out.

  1. Your resolutions would be SO hard for me to do. I spend my mornings on the computer and usually get around to getting showered and dressed by noon. I like my quiet mornings in my PJs. Can't wait to see how your resolutions work out for you.

    1. My routine as well. On days I don’t shower, I stay in my jammies all day! People who pop by always ask if I’m sick!!! No, just comfy!!

    1. I have the most energy during the day, so I’m hoping to write up a list of tasks so I can get caught up scanning photos, converting VHS, office papers. And to get in a few walks!!

  3. Back at the beginning of 2018 I wrote out goals I wanted to accomplish in the new year. Not resolutions per se, but goals. One of my biggest problems back then was I was very inactive. Got up with hubby when he got up for work at 5:30 a.m. but then would lay on the couch scrolling through Facebook while he got ready. Then after he left I would do whatever needed to be done around the house but then when I was done I would lay on the couch until it was time for me to clock in for work. Basic pattern was laying on couch whenever I had the opportunity. I resolved to reduce that by 75% over the year and did so along with other goals I had made. Its easy to get into ruts if one doesn't have routines to follow. Now that hubby is retired and I was fired, I still want a routine. So I have an alarm set for 6 a.m. Monday through Friday. When it rings, I'm up and on the treadmill for 40 minutes then take a shower, eat breakfast, etc. for the rest of the day. It will be easier to get back into a work routine, assuming I get another job.

Your goals are definitely doable!!! And if you decide to add to them, those too would be achievable!

    Happy New Year!

    1. My retirement goal was to NEVER have to set an alarm! Except to catch a plane and now I'm not traveling by air .... so no alarm at all!

  4. Well, thank you very much for making me feel better. I get up at 6:00 a.m. because I need to let my dogs out and feed them. Then, after drinking my coffee while reading the local newspaper online and reading blogs, I'm not out of my pajamas until 9:00:)

  5. I tried that last year and it lasted about 10 days. I just feel better if I get up at 9:00 and take it easy until 11:00, then get off the computer, get dressed and be productive.

    1. We all have our own internal clock. Whatever works best for you. I do love reading the news, email, Facebook while sipping my cold brew.

  6. That sounds like a Resolution we could all stick with more than a Minute... I didn't make any Resolutions this New Year's but that one could Work for me.
