Luckily, the Realtor's daughter was there (she was staying over to let the Terminix tech in the next morning). Former Tenant acted like it was no big deal to show up in the middle of the night, but I bet she was surprised someone was there! She claimed she left a box of clothing in the garage which she needed as she was flying back to live in Portland for a while. Told Realtor Daughter she has been living in her car.
Thank goodness Realtor Daughter is a poised and wise young woman who could stand up to the narcissist witch. She allowed her to take one box of clothing. And informed her to call ahead of time and she or her Mom will let her in.
Former Tenant left Portland, Oregon after her mother died in 2007 and left her $500,000. She left her two daughters, each a single mother of one child. As you can imagine, she has bad relationships with the kids as well as her only sister. She's been alcohol free for 15+ years but the twenty years before that (formative years for her girls) was just a blur. Recently, she started smoking marijuana. OK for some people ....
When she first arrived on island, she was a babysitter with a Maui service with ties to big fancy hotels. After a while they stopped calling her. Hmmmm. She talked about part time jobs so she wouldn't spend down her money, hoping it would last a lifetime. Maui is filled with part time jobs ... and even Uber but she never got it together. Then when Trump came into office, she took all her money out of the stock market.
Honestly, looking back I think she might have borderline personality disorder (one of the most common types). People with BPD tend to have disturbed ways of thinking, impulsive behaviour and problems controlling their emotions. They may have intense but unstable relationships and worry about people abandoning them.
And now, unfortunately, she has become depressed and paranoid (marijuana use?). I hope when/if she gets to the mainland that she gets some help.
Her rage is deep and I set it off by deciding to sell my house.
Wow, scary stuff. Why does she still have stuff there in the house if she's leaving the island? At what point can you just donate it all?
ReplyDeleteI'll be there on Saturday to survey the mansion. Buyer is taking house "as is", furniture and all. We will haul any junk away while we are there.
DeleteTenant is such a liar, who knows what she is really doing. Who on earth would think it is okay to "visit" at 3:00 am ....
It's a good thing your Realtor's daughter was there, and that she handled it so well. The tenant must still have a key if she came at 3:00 am, but I can't remember. I think you change the locks, didn't you? If she didn't have a key, how was she planning to get inside. Oh, my. You are well rid of her. Disturbing.
ReplyDeleteNo, we have not changed the locks or the garage code. She turned over all the keys (maybe all the keys)??? but realtor did not get garage door changed. I'll do that FIRST thing when we land on Saturday.
DeleteWhat a Wacko. There are no circumstances possible where it is OK to go inside another person's home at 3AM
"The buyer"? Does that mean you actually got it sold and will be there for one last 'good-bye' and to sign the papers?
ReplyDeleteSale "pending" but money in escrow. House inspection yesterday. Crossing my fingers that no snags appear!
ReplyDeleteIs this insane woman going to look you up when she gets back to Portland?
ReplyDeleteCertainly not.
DeleteUnless she shows up at 3am ....
