The hardest part is feeling guilty living this dream. The atmosphere in this tropical island is delightful. The sunshine is mood lifting and I love how cheerful it makes everything. I'm slowly building a friendship base while enjoying keeping this laptop busy all the time!
The year round warmth is good for my bones, my skin, my eyes, my hair. I haven't even put on a sweatshirt this year. No closed toe shoes. I've gone completely native!
I'm lucky enough to have some friends who can afford to come visit. My sister-in-law Kim (married to my youngest brother, 15 years my junior) arrived via cruise ship so today we spent the day together. I don't think we have EVER chatted this much.
The fresh produce is another perk of living here. We have access to through-the-berry RED Kula strawberries year round. There is really no excuse for me not losing weight with the abundance of fresh fresh fresh just picked food.
This is such a good life ... I often cry because he is not here to share it. That's the hard part.
Of course you deserve it! Mr. Ralph loved you so much he wanted you to have it all. He prepared it for you and he's happy for you. Of course you miss not sharing it with him, but it is not to be. So enjoy your life as much as you can because it would make him so happy that you are.
ReplyDeleteThank you for such kind words. I really am enjoying living here. The guilt will become less and less ...
DeleteYou do deserve it! I wish you had Ralph enjoying island life right along with you, but you most definitely deserve it!! xxxx
ReplyDeleteThank you. Growing up a corn fed girl from Ohio ... this is really a dream come true! I never even saw an ocean til I was in my 20's. Visited Hawaii for the first time when I was 40! Still in love with it .... as are you!
DeleteYou're living Ralph's dream that became yours as well. No reason to feel guilty about that in the least. You both worked hard to achieve it. But I know what you mean. Sometimes I feel badly for people who struggle to have enough money do some of the things our generation took for granted. Our husband's would be happy for us.
ReplyDeleteThanks. My parents lived on SS only and I felt guilty taking a vacation knowing they could live on that money for more than a month! I'm just so darned lucky.
