Oh these smooth talking handsome athletic young people.
Yes, that slick talking youngster got me to return yesterday afternoon. I almost called to cancel as my back hurt as bad as my knee. Damn that kid of mine, she said just go! They know how to work with all kinds of pain, Mom. And he knew EXACTLY how to make it easier to get in a full workout. Now I have TEN daily exercises, plus walking. I do think I will schedule future visits with at least two days in between.
I also called the surgeon's office for additional oxycodone ... to last until my appointment next Thursday. I know oxy is highly addictive but surely there is something that is effective for the pain but stronger than Tylenol. I'll do some homework before that appointment.
My brain just wants to sleep to skip the pain so I apologize for the briefness of these blogs! Ice and a nap call my name! Then a walk about!
It will get better. It just takes time and work.
ReplyDeleteTime and HARD work. I let the pain get ahead of me yesterday. Takes hours to catch up. Today it's pain relief every four hours instead of three.
DeleteYou aren't going to get addicted!! I took it for 3 months. When the pain goes away, so will the pills. Don't worry. PT will help, after a few weeks--I went every other day--they said I needed a day or rest in between PT days. I went 3 times a week for six weeks with an hour of PT each time. Medicare covered it all. I still think they sent you home to soon--or you should have gone to a rehab place another 4 days--where you would do light PT and rest the rest of the time. Just my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI go twice a week for six weeks, an hour and 15 minutes (ice for the last 15 mins) The hospitals sure kick you out quick! Fewer foreign germs at your own home so less chance of surgical site infection. MUCH easier to sleep at home!
DeleteSome people say don't use ANY narcotics, others (like you) say use them when you need them. I don't mind feeling pain at 5 or less. Over that, I need some back up!
Sleep is good for you. I wish I could tolerate Oxy. It makes me feel nauseous. I hope you feel better soon. Don't apologize for your short posts. You're doing much better than I have lately.
ReplyDeleteI feel very lucky I can tolerate the Oxy! I always eat a saltine before and after each dose. tylenol doesn't seem to do a thing for me. I'll talk to surgeon about substituting Alleve or Advil.
DeleteI am hosting a Village happy hour here today ... but I cannot attend. Not enough energy to shower and get presentable. Overly optimistic? That's me!
